Lot Essay

Picasso pulled a few proofs of Femme Torero. Dernier Baiser? and La Grande Corrida (lot 89) between 1934 and 1939, but the print was never editioned. Roger Lacourière printed 50 impressions of each for Ambroise Vollard in 1939, but the publisher never paid for nor took delivery of the prints. Bear notes that this planned edition remained unnumbered, and only 3-4 prints of each were signed or inscribed.
