It is inevitable to compare Kusama's collages to Andy Warhol's series of the same year: the grids of multiple one-dollar bills, Campbell's Soup cans, Marilyns, and Coca-Cola bottles. Warhol also used images of mailing labels and stamps...The principal difference between Kusama's airmail sticker series and the majority of Warhol's multiples is that Kusama uses the actual object in the modernist collage tradition, whereas Warhol represents it in photographic silkscreen.
