signed and with the number 'A.Rodin n.2' (on the top of the base); stamped with the foundry mark '.Alexis Rudier.Fondeur.Paris.' (on the back of the base); signed again with the raised signature 'A.Rodin' (on the inside of the base)
bronze with dark brown patina
Height: 12½ in. (31.7 cm.)
Conceived in 1882, this bronze cast circa 1930

Musée Rodin, Paris.
Acquired from the above by the family of the present owner in January 1943, and thence by descent.
