This certificate details the service of Stephen Sabine on board the Victory, who "was killed in action with the combined Fleets off Trafalgar and is entitled to share prize money for all captures made during the said time." Addressed to the sailor's father, it bears a note on the third page in the hand of one of the officers of the Victory, reading: "Herewith you will receive a certificate signed by Captain Hardy to enable you to receive your poor boy's Pay, Prize Money, etc."
