René Magritte sculptures

While best known for his paintings, René Magritte also experimented with sculpture, translating his Surreal imagery into three-dimensional form. Shortly before his death, René Magritte created a series of eight large bronzes. This transition from painting to sculpture marked a significant evolution in his artistic vision. The sculptures depicted his signature motifs, such as the 'leaf-bird' — a fantastical fusion of plant and bird. Magritte's sculptures explore the theme of metamorphosis, continuing his fascination with the transformation of one object into another. Though he did not live to see the final works completed, these sculptures remain a pivotal part of his legacy.
